NCCI launches Dalit Solidarity Network
May 3, 2010
The National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) meeting of the Dalit coordinators of member Churches of NCCI, was held at Ecumenical Resource Center, United Theological College, Bangalore during April 21-23, 2010.
The need and importance of a network among Churches for the work of Dalit solidarity was felt and discussed by the participants. To that effect, a National Ecumenical Dalit Solidarity Network (NEDSN) emerged out of the deliberations with an objective for common witness and for mutual sharing of the local accompaniments with Dalit struggles.

CBI probe into Orissa violence urged
April 30, 2010
India was urged on Thursday to initiate a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the murder of Swami Laxmananda Saraswati and the ensuing violence in Orissa in 2008.
In its annual report documenting religious freedom abuses and limitations in 28 countries around the world, the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF) recommended the US government to urge India to pursue, investigate, and bring charges against the perpetrators of the killings and arson in Orissa, as well as any forced reconversions.
